POUGHKEEPSIE, NY– New Yorkers gather for a press conference in support of firearms freedom. April 16, 2015
Mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie John Tkazyik offers a press conference in opposition to a proposed City of Poughkeepsie ‘safe storage’ ordinance that would force gun owners to lock up their firearms in their homes. The proposed ordinance violates the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as New York Civil Rights Law, Article 2 Section 4, (both laws being written to limit government power) which states ‘the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed.’ Government forcing the people to lock up their firearms is an infringement of the people’s inherent right to all lawful firearms ownership and use.
Featured speakers also include Assemblyman Kieran Lalor, Dutchess County Legislator Gwen Johnson, Poughkeepsie Councilman Lee Klein, and the President of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Assn., Tom King.
New Yorkers are asked to attend the Poughkeepsie Common Council meeting on Monday April 20, in opposition to the proposed ‘safe storage’ ordinance. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Third Floor, Municipal Building, 62 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, New York.
